How to Apply for XAT

You can register for XAT to fill the application form online only. The application form is divided into three parts - XAT registration, filling up the form with requisite details and paying the application fee.

Application Fee

XAT first phase application fee Rs. 1650 (Rs. 300 per XLRI programme)
XAT late application fee Rs. 2000 (Rs 500 per XLRI programme)

You can choose one of the following modes of payment to pay the XAT application fee.

1. Online payment gateway

  • Credit / Debit Card - Candidates can pay XAT application form fee through Visa / Master Card
  • Net Banking - Only IDBI account holders are eligible for this mode of payment.

2. Cash payment - Applicants have to take a print out of the XAT Pay-In-Slip and visit any IDBI bank branch to make the payment through cash.

3. Demand Draft (DD) - The Demand Draft has to be made in favour of “XLRI Jamshedpur A/c XAT” payable at Jamshedpur.

Candidates who pay XAT application form fee through second and third mode should update the payment details on the XAT registration page. In case of failure to do the same, those candidates will not be allowed to upload their photograph and signature.

Documents to Keep Ready


Class X, Class XII, Graduation and Masters degree (if applicable)


Candidates have to select a recent passport size colour photograph in .jpeg format. The file size should be between 20 KB - 50 KB and dimensions should be 200 x 230 pixels. The picture should have been taken in light or white background. The face should be clear in the photograph otherwise the application may get rejected. The size of the scanned image is not more than 50 KB.


Applicants’ signature should be made on a white paper with a black ink pen. It should be scanned in 200 dots per inch (dpi) resolution and the file size should be between 10 KB - 20 KB.

How to Fill XAT Application Form

  1. Visit the official website of XAT

  2. Click on the ‘Register tab and create a new account using your personal email id, wherein you will receive XAT ID and registration link

  3. Click on the XAT registration link to create XAT login password. You must preserve the XAT ID and password for logging in to XAT account

  4. After logging, you have to choose the preferred exam city from the list of exam cities

  5. Enter name, upload photograph and signature and save it

  6. Select citizenship from options like Indian, Foreign and NRI

  7. Choose Programme among Business Management (BM), Human Resource Management (HRM) and General Management Programme (GMP). This is an optional step and can be skipped in case you are not applying for XLRI

  8. Fill Preliminary and mandatory information such as name, date of birth, gender, parents’ name, category and contact details

  9. Enter educational qualification starting from Class X till the highest degree received

  10. Provide details of work experience starting from the latest job. Candidates applying for XLRI GMP programme must have minimum five years experience

  11. Pay the fee

  12. After completing the XAT application form filling process, candidates have to take a print out of the application confirmation message
