Programmes at DMS, IIT Madras

1. MBA

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) at IIT Madras is a two-year, full-time, seven quarter program aimed at training graduates to become capable managers. Students are provided a well-rounded learning experience in terms of management theory and actual practice. The program involves classroom teaching, case discussions, hands-on management internship in industry and project work. The program comprises seven quarters of course work, with four quarters for first year and three quarters for second year.

2. Post Graduate Programme for Executives for Visionary Leadership in Manufacturing (PGPEX-VLM)

It is joint Program of Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIMC), Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) and Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM). The program is meant for promising engineers drawn from the manufacturing sector, who have the potential for top management positions.

3. Research Programmes at DoMS

DoMS offers three academic research programmes:

• MS (by Research)
• MS (Entrepreneurship)
• PhD

MS (by Research): The MS (by Research) program is best suited for students who want to kick-start their research career. The program emphasizes the use of logical, analytical, experimental and intuitive thinking skills in pursuit of research. Provision is also available to meritorious candidates to upgrade their registration to the PhD programme.

MS (Entrepreneurship): The MS (Entrepreneurship) exposes students to challenges and opportunities in entrepreneurship and requires them to design, develop, test and prove the techno-commercial viability of products/processes/business models that could eventually be commercialized by them.
