MAT (Management Admission Test) February 2013 exam was conducted on 3rd February 2013. It had a total of 200 questions to be attempted in 150 minutes. Each question carried 1 mark with a negative mark of 0.25. The paper had five sections with 40 questions in each section.

Mathematical Skills

This section had majority of the questions from the Arithmetic (Time and Distance, Time and Work, Mensuration, Percentages, Equations, Ratios, Averages, Mixtures and Alligations, SICI, Numbers) and around 10 questions from Higher Maths (P&C, Probability, Heights and Distances).

Data Analysis and Sufficiency

This section comprises DI (Data Interpretation), Data Sufficiency and Data Comparison. DI accounted for major chunk of questions. In DI, the questions were with presentations in the form of Tables, Line Graph, and Pie Charts.

Intelligence and Critical Reasoning

This section is a mix of Analytical Reasoning and Critical Reasoning. There were five sets of 3 questions each. Critical Reasoning questions were from Statement & Conclusions, Cause & Effect, Assertion & Reasons.

Language Comprehension

This section had a mix of 20 questions from Verbal and 20 questions from Reading Comprehension. The Reading Comprehension passages were of moderate length. There were 5 passages with four questions each. Passages were on "Good government initiatives"; "India is the second most competitive economy"; "India-US Relationship"; "The bad stateof Indian sport" and "Freedom at5 work". In Verbal Ability, the questions were from jumbled words, odd man out, best essence of paras, best sentence of all, opposites and fill in the blanks.

Indian and Global Environment

The marks obtained in this area is not counted in the overall composite score.
