IIFT 2016 exam was conducted on 27 November, 2016 for admission to Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) located in Delhi and Kolkata. The test was conducted between 10 am and 12 noon. The duration of the exam was 2 hours with no sectional time limit.

The total number of questions in IIFT 2016 was 123 as compared to 124 last year. The Quantitative Ability (QA) and General Awareness sections were stand-alone sections, similar to the last year. Logical Reasoning (LR) & Data Interpretation (DI) were clubbed together as one section and Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (RC) were also clubbed together.

Negative Marking

Different sections had different negative marking. Maximum negative marking for wrong answers was one-third of the allotted marks.

Section 1: Quantitative Ability (QA)

Difficulty level of this section was similar to that from last year. This section had a good mix of questions from diverse topics - Inequalities, Logarithm, Progressions (AP and GP), Permutation & Combination, Probability, Sets, Time Speed & Distance, Time & Work, Profit Loss & Discount, Surds & Indices, Geometry, Mensuration and Co-ordinate Geometry.

Section 2: Logical Reasoning & Data Interpretation

There were 22 LR questions. The questions were from Analogies (4), Tribe Puzzle (3), Circular Arrangement (4), Two sets on Distribution (3+3), Venn Diagram (1), Missing Number (1), Missing Letter (1), Number Series (1), and Deductions (1).

The Data Interpretation part had four sets - two were based on Tables and the remaining two were based on Bar Graph.

Section 3: Reading Comprehension & Verbal Ability

There were new type of questions that involved crossword vocabulary questions - matching 2 sets of 10 words. There were 3 questions of etymology.

The passages were from different areas. One was on "the criticality of manufacturing sector in an emerging economy", another was "how a multinational can reap rewards through globalization" while the other two were on the "Positive impact of women's participation in the workforce" and "Advances in robotics".
